Tour of the Maher Terminals

Port Elizabeth, NJ, April 30. 2002

Students at Maher Terminals in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

In the background you can see huge gantry cranes, containers in the staging area and

straddle carrier  picking up a container (far left).

Gantry cranes unload containers from ships onto the staging area.

Straddle carriers pick them up and load them onto trucks, which take them out of port.

In case of export containers it works the same, only backwards.

Chuck and Jakub pose in front of the CSX unit train.

This train brings export and empty containers into the terminal.

After delivery, the locomotive will pick up ready train and take it

to some inland freight terminal or directly to customer.
