82. Annual Meeting of the TRB

Washington, DC, January 13-17. 2002

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is a unit of the National Research Council, a private, nonprofit institution that is the principal operating agency of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering. The Board's mission is to promote innovation and progress in transportation by stimulating and conducting research, facilitating the dissemination of information, and encouraging the implementation of research results.

Alex during his presentation

Because of the importance of the TRB Annual Meeting for transportation community Interdisciplinary Program in Transportation organizes the trip to TRB for faculty and students every year. This year 10 graduate students from  Transportation Program at NJIT and members of our ITE Student Chapter attended the meeting. Five students had presentations at the meeting: Alex Sideris (oral presentation), Rajat Rajbhandari, Mouly Kuchipudi, Guancheng Li and Feng Ming Tsai (poster presentation). Besides attending the sessions at the meeting and learning about the latest development in the transportation field throughout the world, there was another goal students had at the meeting: to promote research at NJIT related to transportation problems.

Atmosphere at the hospitality party

Every year our students organize hospitality suite party where they invite all the participants at the meeting are invited. At this event students and faculty from Transportation Program talk to guests in casual atmosphere about transportation program and research at our school.

This year party was held in one of the suites in Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington and it was a great success. We had more than 100 people who attended the party. We are proud that every year more and more people interested in our work and research projects we are involved with.
